Why do F1 teams use different drivers in some practice sessions?

Category: Drivers

Teams have a long-term outlook and are constantly searching for their next superstar.

Many of the emerging drivers are contracted to a team and they will be seen working with the team, in the garage, or on the pit wall, during a race weekend. They can also fulfil simulator duties and other support roles.

In order to compete in F1, the drivers must hold a Super License as well as having driven in an official F1 session. In 2022, the FIA regulated that the teams must provide two sessions for academy drivers.
