Who pays for the damage if two cars collide?

Category: FAQ

F1 teams are responsible for their own cars, even if the crash was caused by another driver.

Replacement parts are expensive, they can be bespoke to the circuit and they take time to produce. In addition to this, the new regulations have a strict budget cap so, even the richer teams can’t replace parts with an unlimited supply.

F1 parts are not cheap. A single front wing costs approximately $150,000.00 the car sitting on the start line is in the order of $13,000,000.00.
