What is meant by driving style?

Category: Drivers

Driving style is the unique way drivers drive the car, accelerating, braking and positioning the car to take the corner.

Pundits will use terms like throttle control, early on the brakes, a pointy front end, understeer, good on the exit or smooth steering control. And while incredibly subtle, we are talking about a sport that competes to within a thousandth of a second so the minutest variance makes a difference.

Driving style means that two cars in one team may have quite different setups. This is often cited as the reason that one driver may struggle to get on top of the car where his teammate is excelling.
