Tyre blankets, or tyre warmers, are used to pre-heat the tyre before it is put onto the car.

Tyres need to be at a certain temperature to be in the window for maximum grip so putting them on hot means the driver can attack immediately.

In categories where tyre warmers are not used the drive warms the tyres over a couple of laps y swerving, increasing the friction and generating heat.
