Sister teams : formula1.com

Sister team refers to two teams with a close relationship, like Red Bull Racing & Scuderia Alpha Tauri being owned by the same parent company – Red Bull. Thus, they are formally sister teams.

Importantly, they are two discrete teams based in separate countries ( England & Italy) with different engineers, factories, etc. While they use the same engine supplier, Red Bull Powertrains, they are required to design and build their chassis independently.

There are advantages of having sister teams; the organisation utilises the junior team, Alpha Tauri, for developing young drivers to advance into the Red Bull team.

Scuderia Ferrari has no formal sister team – they’re the only team owned by Ferrari. However, they do have indirect relations with two other teams: Haas & Sauber
