Reserve Driver

With a team title as well as a driver title at stake, teams need to start the car even if one of the full-time drivers becomes unwell.

Reserve Drivers are on standby, often at the circuit, during a race weekend. They’re trained to jump into the car at short notice and participate in the race if needed. They can also be called upon for testing, and simulator work.
