Paul Ricard :

The Circuit Paul Ricard race track, located at Le Castellet in the French region of Var, was built in 1969 with finance from pastis magnate Paul Ricard. Ricard wanted to experience the challenge of building a racetrack.

The circuit is Grade 1 and has hosted Formula 1, on and off, since 1973. It is known for its painted run off areas that use high friction paint to slow the cars down if they leave the track.

(Pastis is an anise-flavoured spirit and apéritif)
