The medical car is a key part of the events safety systems providing emergency care by its driver, FIA Medical Rescue Coordinator Dr Ian Roberts, as well as one or two local doctors.

The medical car follows the F1 cars on the starting lap when the cars are tightly grouped and the chances of an accident needing medical attention are higher. During the race, the Official FIA F1 Medical Car is parked in the pit lane next to the Safety Car for quick deployment.

The medical car, like the safety car, is alternated between a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (720bhp) and Astin Martin DBX707.
