Lift and Coast

If a driver is burning too much fuel to get to the end of a race, their engineer might tell them to ‘lift and coast’, meaning that the driver lifts off the throttle and cruises into a braking zone, using less fuel.

The technique slows down their pace, so it is only used in a race session when necessary.
