A fully electric single-seater, open-wheel race format was launched by the FIA in 2014. 16 events are scheduled for 2022 with races being held entirely on street circuits in some of the world’s largest cities.

The event has a strong sustainability ethos and in 2020 became the first global sport to be certified with a net-zero carbon footprint from inception.
