Fastest pit stop

Pit stops are a key factor for F1 race strategy with each team required to complete at least one and two or three possible.

The net loss of time to travel through the pit lane and make the stop is offset by the benefit of new tyres, but there is no time to waste. The time that the car is stationary is around 2.2 seconds and any delay can be the difference between coming out ahead or behind your nearest rival.

The fastest pit stop award was introduced in 2015 to recognise the exemplary work of the pit crews and has been sponsored by DHL since its inception. The award is presented for each race and an overall winner is awarded at the end of the season.

In 2021 Red Bull was the fastest overall with their best time of 1.88s on Max’s car in Hungary.
