Brake-by-wire : velocitynews.co.nz

Brake by wire (BBW) refers to the system that controls the rear brake. While the front brakes maintain the traditional direct link to the brake pedal, the rear brakes are managed electronically, hence the expression “by wire”.

As well as discs and callipers, the rear brakes use the Energy Recovery System (ERS). As the ERS-K recovers energy under braking, the drag of the MGU acts as a brake, assisting to slow the car. A form of engine braking.
