The Aerodynamicists are aeronautical engineers responsible for the car’s aerodynamics a critical part of the car’s ability to race and corner. The cars need to be super sleek on the straits and have maximum downforce in the corners.

This is a highly complex discipline, starting with sketch concepts, computer models, scaled wind tunnel models and live testing. And the team are always working on the next part of in the case of 2022, the new car.

You will often see a car with aero rakes or flow vis during practice. This is typically when the team is testing a new part and the aerodynamicists want to get some ‘real life’ data.
