So, with the advanced telemetry and communication that F1 teams use today, why do pit boards still feature trackside?

Drivers are bombarded with information, both on the steering wheel and over the radio. The pit board provides basic data, lap after lap, without the engineer needing to come on the radio each time the driver passes the start / finish line.
They make great reference points for the team photo post-race.
