'Lid' is a colloquial name for a helmet. There's more..., is a key part of the overall safety system and today’s version is a far cry from the leather football caps of the early 40’s. Today they are precision fitted, to a scan of the driver’s head with every detail custom-tuned to suit the driver’s set-up and the aerodynamics of the car.
